  1. It will be the same postage you would pay to ship to anywhere else in the US.  His address will be something like

    PVT Joe Snuffy

    1/23 Infantry Battalion

    APO, AE 09543

The APO means Army Post Office.  It would be compared to the city on a normal address.  The AE is Armed Forces Europe.  This is the stated.  And the end is just the same as a zip code.

Just like when you ship to another state, the cost will depend on the zip code.  And as the zip code is technically New York (as that is where the Army Post Office is) it will be similar as if you shipped to NY.

FPO is pretty much the same thing, just for the Navy and Marine Corp.  It is Fleet Post Office.  It doesn't necessarily mean it is heading to a ship.  Just that the Navy is running the Post Office.

  2. When you decide to mail a package go to the post office and get a flat rate APO box. $10.95 as much as you can fit in there. Real good deal and they get there sooner than if you put stuff in a regular box.

  3. If its on a military installation over there, just a regular 41 cent stamp should do it.

  4. If it's to an APO address, just one regular stamp.

If not, take it to the post office and have them stamp it for you.

  5. Because it is going to an APO, it is the cost of a regular stamp.  Packages cost a little bit more, but not much.
