  2. You need to adopt a balanced approach. You need to be friendly , warm (so that employees don't hesitate in approaching you in case of any concern or issue) and keep a dignified distance (so that no one takes you for a ride and that also helps you  when you take some tough decisions like sacking an employee or issuing a warning letter) !
