Doll makers have been using molds for 200 years. Like sculpture castings, so you make a master sample than you make a cast for that and then you pour your new material/resin in to that mold. You have to make sure you work on the way the arms and legs will attach to the body.

So to Michels and see if they have any mold making kits. But at least this should give you a place to start your research.
