  1. like they said or fry then bake or bake then fry but i pre fer baked then fried but if you fry then bake the extra grese comes out and crisps the outside

  2. They're right - you have to fry them twice.  Once I made homemade curly fries and my husband was late to dinner.  The fries had cooled so I fried them again.  They were the best fries I ever had!  I always do it this way now.  I don't know if it matters if you let them cool, but I always let them cool before cooking them again.

  4. Deep fry it on HIGH HEAT.  If you do it on low heat, it will cook slower and the oil will absorb into the fry making it soft.

  5. alton brown says: cut, soak (~30min in chilled water), dry, dust (with flour), fry (in good quality oil)

  6. Well the best fries ( crunchiest) can be done a healthier way or an unhealthy way.( one is worse then the other).

Lard makes the best tasting fries but is super high in fat.

The other way is to use a veggie oil although grapeseed oil would be better because you can make it super hot without it breaking down.

So the answer is to make the oil very hot and be very careful when placing the fries in that oil, it will splash on you and will cause a severe burn.

    That make the fries crunchy.

Lard is the best but also very unhealthy.

Hot, hot oil( but never olive oil because olive oil will break down at a very low temp).

  7. You have to fry them twice. first you fry them so that they are soft and the inside is cooked then you take them out, then you have to increase the heat and fry then again, the 2nd fry is what makes them crispy, the 1st fry is so they'er not raw in the middle

  8. McDonald has the best french fries

  9. The secret to making french fries so crunchy is.,...

    DOUBLE FRYING!

Half fry your potatoes, take them out, and make sure that the oil is strained/pat dry off the potatoes, (put them on a roasting tray above a normal tray, this is the best way to do it)

    Then, FRY AGAIN!

The result is super tasty fries!

You can put batter on them after frying them once and letting them cool.

In Australia, we use beer batter (surprise) which is flour and a little of any flavour beer enough to make a thick but runny batter (dont worry there is no alcohol as it evaporates in cooking and the flavour of the beer is almost null, but it gives the fries a great texture)

    There you go!

Have a few tries and let me know how you go!
