  1. I agree with the others but I always add a large clove of mashed garlic and juice of 1 or 2  lemons when making mine.

    Also tinned chick peas may be quicker but there is always something wrong with the flavour, if you have the time start from scratch


  2. you have to blend cooked chick peas with tahini (seame paste) and then add olive oil. Season with salt. I like to add just a little bit of lime juice and paprika as well. I have made it at home but the store bought ones are usually better :( You can find authentic recipes online. good luck!

  3. Athens girl is right about the recipe.  The way to make homemade taste more like storebought is to let it sit for a day (in the fridge of course) so the flavors can marry.  This is such a super healthy thing to eat, I just love it!

  4. HUMMUS  

    1 12-oz can garbanzo beans

    1 clove garlic

    2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

    2-3 tbsp tahini sauce (sesame paste)

    juice of 1 small lemon

    ½ tsp salt

    Drain 1/3 of the water from the can of garbanzo beans into a small bowl. Set aside for later use.

    In a blender, mix together the garbanzo beans with the remaining can water and the rest of the ingredients.

    Blend for 1-2 minutes until a smooth, slightly fluid paste is formed.



    OR

    EASY HUMMUS DIP  

    2 (15 1/2 oz.) cans chick peas (garbanzos), drained

    1/4 c. fresh lemon juice

    2 tbsp. oriental sesame oil

    1/8 tsp. garlic powder

    Pita bread, cut into eighths

    Olive oil to cover

    Puree all ingredients except bread in blender or processor. (Can be prepared one day ahead. Cover and refrigerate). Transfer to bowl. Drizzle olive oil over top and blend. Serve with pita bread.

    OR

    HUMMUS  

    1 can garbanzo beans

    1/4 c. Tahina

    Juice of 1 lemon

    1 tsp. garlic

    Salt

    Parsley and paprika as a garnish

    Drain the liquid from the beans and place them in the food processor. Add the Tahina, juice, and garlic. Process for a few minutes until smooth. Add salt to taste. Serve on a flat plate. Pour on one tablespoon of olive oil. Garnish with parsley and paprika
