    Place a ham bone with meat in the crock pot along with the a package of dried split peas, 2 stalks of celery diced, 2 diced whole carrots, and a small onion, 1 tbsp of lemon juice, salt and pepper, cover with water so that you have about 2 inches of water above your ingredients.. Cook on low for 6 to8 hours.

    16 ounces dried split peas

    2 cups diced fully cooked lean ham

    1 cup diced carrots

    1 medium onion, chopped

    2 garlic cloves, minced

    2 bay leaves

    5 cups boiling water

    1 cup hot milk

    In a crock pot, layer the first nine ingredients in order listed (do not stir). Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until vegetables are tender. Stir in milk. Discard bay leaves before serving.

    Serves 9.

    Split Pea Sausage Soup

    1 pound dried split peas

    10 cups water

    1 pound smoked sausage of your choice, sliced

    5 cubes chicken bouillon

    1 1/2 cups chopped carrot

    1 cup chopped celery

    2 potatoes, peeled and chopped

    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

    1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

    2 bay leaves

    1 onion, chopped

    In a crock pot, combine the peas, water, sausage, bouillon, carrot, celery, potatoes, garlic powder, oregano, bay leaves, and onion.

    Cover, and cook on High for 4 to 5 hours. Remove bay leaves before ladling into bowls.

    Serves 8.

    Ingredients

    1 (16 ounce) package dried split peas, rinsed

    2 cups diced ham

    3 carrots, peeled and sliced

    1 medium onion, chopped

    2 stalks celery, plus leaves, chopped

    2 garlic cloves, minced

    1 bay leaf

    1 tablespoon seasoning salt

    1/2 teaspoon fresh pepper

    1 1/2 quarts hot water

    Directions

    1 Layer ingredients in crockpot.

    2 Pour in water, so don't stir.

    3 Cover and cook on high 4-5 hours or on low for 8-10 hours.

    4 Remove Bay leaf.

    5 Serve garnished with bay leaves.
