Question:

How to make WMP 11 burn CDs faster?

In a few hours, I have to leave and I forgot how slow WMP (Windows Media Player, version 11) burns CDs. It's ridiculously slow. I looked online and found Nero but I think that is only compatible with version 9 of WMP. I'd rather not download another CD burner because I already downloaded like fifteen of them and hated them all and finally resorted to WMP. Also, all my CD drives are set to the fastest setting possible and so is WMP. I don't feel like staying up forever when I have a zillion things to burn. Any help?

  1. u dont d/load cd burners u buy them all software burns at the same speed it depends on your cd drive speed all u can do is buy a faster cd drive

  2. Well l wish l could. l never used wmp burner, l didn't know it was that slow , l've ripped from there and that was fast enough. Something is slowing it down. You can try and go to the device manager and update some drivers don't know if it will help. With converters they have now it's not a problem to burn in one format (eg nero)and immediately convert to .wmm file.

  3. CD burning programs burn the CDs at the speed they can be burned at.  (Some of them are better at calculating the speed than others, but not by much.)  Buy better CDs.

(The best burn rate, if you don't want a large percentage of coasters, is the slowest speed the program will burn that CD at.  You can burn too fast to get a good burn, but you can't burn too slowly.)

  4. Here is a link to a free CD/DVD burning program that is very small in megabytes, but out performs major named ones like Nero and Roxio.

It is the fastest burning program I have found (and I have tried many), and it is very easy to use, even for a beginner.

WMP stinks as a burning and ripping program, but it does work.

    From your more information:

If you are going to downgrade use WMP 10, far better than 9 and faster too.
