  1. the way I do it is to put a little pressUre on the mouth by moving the reins away from u and to push their shoulder or neck with yoUr hand until the foot closest to u steps over the other.(u should be standing at the shoulder tUrned toward the head and turning the same direction that u r facing). Reward your horse the first time he does this and do it again. Reward ur horse as the number of times he does this increases. In a show u can't use ur hand so u will need to slowly work on doing this with out ur hand.

  2. Do you want the turn on the forehand or the haunch??  And from the saddle or the ground??

This is a good site for showmanship...http://lpph.org/showmanship

  3. First of all, get someone to help you. It's impossible to teach a horse how to do this without knowing how to do it yourself.

To train them, Use a halter and a lead rope with a chain under their chin. Stand on their left, and lean towards them so they move over, but dont walk. Essentially, you just want them to turn all the way around but not walk, and leave their back right leg in the same place.

When you turn, you always lean towards them.

You can tap their shoulder to make them move away for training, but you must only use your lead line when showing.
