How to make a SIMPLE water pump using 9v motor that can lift water upto 15 cm?

It is for a competition tomorrow. Need answers immediately, must lift water 15 cm . Easy to make !

    homework question is it!

    get a pulley, motor at the top, roller at the bottom. line running top to bottom. you need it to angle out about 15 degrees and be around 20cm top to bottom.

    attach small pieces of rag to the line at frequent intervals.

    stick one end in your water, the other end over a collector tank so the line just clears the lip of the tank. As the motor pulls the line up, the water on the rags is pulle dup and over the pulley, it drips into the collector as it scrapes over the lip. Its not efficient but it works. Cornish tin mines used these pumps and so did very early coal mines where they were shallow enough.

    You can use any length of line run, as long as you realise you need to keep the tension on, and the angle enough to give a clear drip
