How to make a back-up CD, and what does it do exactly?

I'm getting a new Lenovo T61 and as soon as I get it, I want to create a back-up CD for it. If I insert this CD later on in a year or so, will it make my computer run as if I had just gotten it?

Please explain how this works.

Don't know what OS you will be running, but if you have the disc insert it in the CDRW rom drive and copy it. When installing the OS set the boot priority to boot from first and shut down.  Reboot and follow the instructions.  Your system will be back to factory settings.  Remember to save any files you want as the restore action will wipe all your personal files
