I'm baking a cake and was wondering what is used to make lines and circles on cakes.

Here is an example:

I know they're edible but what are they? Thanks :D

  1. pretty sure it's colored fondant but it could be modeling chocolate.  You can buy ready to use colored fondant at some cake decorating supply shops (also on the web).

  2. Yeah, that's definitely fondant. Fondant takes a lot of practice. It looks like clay, but it is much harder to work with than clay. It is messy, sticky and you should definitely practice rolling it and what not before decorating an actual cake. When I watch chefs on TV roll fondant, they make it look SUPER easy. LOL but it's not at first.

  3. its def. fondant or marzipan

  4. its probably fondant

  5. Fondant or marzipan.  Both take food colouring well.  Expect messy fingers and an even messier kitchen.
