is there really a need to make a cover letter if i am applying for adjustment of status for permanent resident

  1. No, you don't have to, it simply makes your application look a little more "professional" so to speak.

    There is no need for any fancy stuff.

    If you decide to do a cover letter, you can do it in the form of:

    <date>

    To Whom It May Concern:

    Please find enclosed my application for Adjustment of Status and accompanying documentation. This is a <whatever>-based application (family, employment, whatever). You will find enclosed the following documents:

    - List the forms and accompanying documents you're sending

    Thank you for your consideration,

    <signed>


  2. Don't bother, they will be getting a ton of paperwork with your application, it is just one more piece of paper that is not needed. I didn't send one with mine and I was approved earlier this year.
