Adding the milk before the water goes back to when thin porcelain/bone china cups would crack if the hot went in first.

Some people like the milk warmed and the quantity of milk used varies too from mostly milk to half and half to just a dash.

Asking him or someone who has made him it before is the best idea.

The instructions usually tell you to use water that has boiled but cooled slightly because it doesn't release the bitterness but I don't normally bother.

If I was your boss I wouldn't thank you for that! Nescafe! to me it is the worst coffee in the world!  I am not a fan of instant coffee at all but if pushed I drink Kenco decaff.

You should do one tea spoon of coffee and add boiling water.  

Let them decide and add the milk and sugar (or ask for sugar) as some people prefer 1 or 4 teaspoons.  Myself I drink it straight, no sugar or milk - I like it black.

yeah 1 tsp of nescafe, 1 tsp sugar and milk is good...but ask him if he likes black, or any sweetners...
