Question:

How to make a generator more efficient?

I was wondering... you know how generators usually have a bunch of copper wire basically wrapped around over and over the area where the magnet will be rotating....

I was wondering if you got a larger ammount of copper if it would produce more power? like for example if instead of a bunch of wire wound up it will be basically a copper donut with a rotating magnet in the middle to produce power....

Would the coper donut produce more power than a bunch of coper wire wrapped into a donut shape?

  1. no

Read up on generator and motor design, you will see that your idea will not work.

  2. More conductors cutting the same number of magnetic lines of force OR the same number of conductors cutting a greater number of magnetic lines of force would increase output.

The shape of the copper coils also affects output.

To increase efficiency, reduce friction in the generator.
