How to make a graphic design portfolio

What is the best way to put together and present a portfolio. I have a 11x17in portfolio to put my finished work in is that sufficient or should I try and make a virtual/ digital one. Or are web pages what firms are looking for?

I would arm yourself with all of the above, that way you can quickly respond to any company's application requirements. It's a good idea to have every piece you are confident in ready to be presented, then choose a handful that are best suited to each company you're applying with.
