  1. Dont use shreds of cloth... they can get tangled in the fibers and loose feet, or choke.

The best thing is a large cockatiel/lovebird nesting box. Line the bottom with a good inch or so of clean CareFresh, available from petstores. This will provide a safe level base and help prevent splay legs. Give your lovies lots of good nesting supplies that are clean and safe- dried coconut fiber, palm frond fiber and leaves, fresh small twigs from bird safe trees with no pestisides, paper towels with no coloring on them, and black and white newspaper to shred- but be mindful that black and white newspaper will turn the eggs grey sometimes. you can just scatter these materials along the bottom of the cage or tuck them in the bars or against the perches and the birds will find them.

Please also remember that lovebirds are very prolific and will breed eagerly- do you really want babies? There is a lot of cost involved in proper feeding and vet care, and a lot of danger to the mother who could become eggbound without proper nutrition, supervision and assistance. babies can have defects and/or die suddenly, or the parents could abandon them forcing you to handfeed. You really can't make money off of lovebird babies since they are so readily available unless you handfeed and really socialize them, so unless you have a LOT of free time and are extremly knowledgable in handfeeding, taming and rearing, plus have a lot of extra space, food, a knowledgable avian certified vet etc, I would just ignore the nesting box and leave the two birds alone to watch and enjoy :)

  2. u don't need to make it, they do.

get a little hide away and/or nesting materieals (newspaper, shreds of cloth, ect) and they'll do it for u. good luck!! ♣
