How to make a monogram spotlight?

Does anyone know how to make a monogram spotlight? Like a light that shines initials onto a wall. I know you need a spotlight obviously, but what kind of material do you need to put on the lens of the light that won't burn up. Or can you use a piece of paper or poster board? And how do you go about making it? Thanks

  1. Hi Lance,

You might want to ask someone at a lighting store if they offer special trim packages for a recessed lighting option, seems like I've seen this.  The other option is to find someone with a table jigsaw, like a machine shop might have, and have them cut it out of a piece of sheet metal.  You could paint it with high heat paint to match the fixture you may have, but I couldn't suggest a mounting method without seeing the fixture itself.

  2. You are looking for GOBO lighting.  A Gobo is a glass or metal template that is used with lighting to reflect the monogram.

Designed By Lauren  @ http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=599... makes custom monograms & gobo temples at a VERY low cost and has directions & links to transfer them to the special plates.
