Ok So probably Monday or Tuesday I'm going to make a Pineapple cake. Not a pineapple upside down cake, a pineapple cake. I want to top it with crushed pineapple but how do I get that glaz-ey look on the top? Please help!

  1. PINEAPPLE GLAZE

    2 c. powdered sugar

    8 tbsp. pineapple juice

Mix well together powdered sugar and pineapple juice and pour over cake while it is slightly warm.

  2. 2 cups powdered sugar...add pineapple juice 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency.if you plan on glazing while cake is still warm...make the glaze rather thick...it will melt.

  3. You can actually use a vanilla glaze to compliment the pineapple.  Works wonders and is delicious.

    ---------

    VANILLA GLAZE

    1/3 c. butter

    2 c. powdered sugar

    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

2 to 4 tbsp. hot water

Heat butter until melted. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until smooth and of desired consistency.

Glazes a 12 cup bundt cake or 10 inch chiffon or angel food cake.

  4. 1/2 cup vegetable shortening (I use Crisco)

    2 sticks unsalted butter

    2-3/4 cups sugar

    6 large eggs

    3 cups flour

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1/4 cup milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla

3/4 cup undrained crushed pineapple and juice

    GLAZE

    1/2 stick unsalted butter, softened

    1-1/2 cups powdered sugar

    1 cup crushed pineapple, drained

    Directions

In large bowl, with mixer, cream shortening, butter, and sugar

Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition

Place flour, baking powder in bowl, whisk together

Add 1 spoonful at a time, alternately with milk to creamed mixture

    Add vanilla

Stir in crushed pineapple and juice, blend well

Pour batter into well greased 10 inch tube pan

    Place in COLD oven

Turn oven on to 325 degrees and bake for 1-1/2 hours or until top springs back when touched lightly

Let stand for a few minutes

Run knife around edges, remove carefully to a wire rack or plate

    GLAZE

Combine butter, powdered sugar, and 1 cup drained pinapple in bowl

    Blend well

Pour over cake while still hot

  5. Add a cup of sugar to a can of crushed p/a WITH juice... bring to a boil, make sure all sugar is dissolved, and cool.  Spoon over top of cake.

  6. You can heat the crushed pineapple and reduce it so it is thick, then put it on top as you wish, then heat some apricot jam and brush this over it.  It seems like apricot jam is the thing to use to give most anything that glazed look.
