How to make a public FTP server?

Question

I want to make an FTP Server which is open for anyone to download from. how do i go about doing that? I have managed to create a private FTP server using filezilla, but that's all. Help?

wow, man, FTP isnt good! anyone can hack it!!!! let them download from plain http (and manage the site using openssh )

The difference between a public & private FTP server is passwords... you need to allow anonymous access,

How can I enable anonymous logins?

Just create an account with the name anonymous and make sure the password box isn't checked on that account.

well, i dont know about filezilla, but you need to:

-1 ... open port 21 on your router

-2 ... install a ftp client

-3 ... set it up to allow ''guest'' visits.
