i got a new system in my car and now i have my old radio left over. I also have 2 6x5's in box's that i want to try to hook up to it and make sort of a stereo type thing. I dont have the wiring harness or anything, is there any way i can hook up the speakers to the stereo and add 12 volts and have a radio?

  1. There should be four leads coming from the back which are the four speakers, which should be labeled front or back and L or R. These are speaker wires; run them to the input on the speakers, run all four wires on the output from the four speakers back to the ground on the back of the radio, should be a s***w labeled GND, or GRD, or possibly just a bare wire. There should be a thin, loose wire which is the Antenna. You'll probably want more than one station or two, so attach it to some other antenna or hunk of metal, etc.

Also, plug 12 volts DC from a transformer/car battery/etc. into the power input, which should be a pretty thick wire, red or white. You'll need a transformer with about 6 amps, and about 200-500 watts to match the car battery while running the radio, depending highly on the radio itself...Look at the diagram next to the input for exact stuff.

You /may/ need a secondary amplifier to power the larger speakers.

    That's pretty much it.

  2. get a 12v convert at radio shack for the power supply.
