Question:

How to make a very cheap light saber (doesn't have to be realistic, just as cheap as possible)?

Yep. I'd like to make my own light saber (/prop). But I don't really want to spend all the money in a store or a hardware store for materials. I checked the web but all I found were those which included pipes etc. etc. Does anyone know how to do (or have a link) one with e.g. common materials that you can find from your home, and doesn't require too much sawing s******g etc. I know this is kind of picky, but... anyways.

Thank you in advance.

  1. Buy a fairly thick wooden dowl and spray-paint it OR buy a cheap one at a kids halloween store for 2.50

  2. Most home improvement stores, or even a store specializing in lights, will have plastic shields that slip over Flourescent bulbs.

Decide if or not you want it any color, DUST it with a spray of that color, attach it to the end of a flashlight, that looks high tech and once turned on, the effect should be similar to a sabre.

    Just my two "sense"

  3. An ultra cheap one would be to paint empty paper towel rolls and glue them together.  For example, if making Yoda's light saber, paint like 4 or 5 empty paper towel rolls green, and another black, for the handle....we did this in high school when we had to make a film "dubbing" a popular movie in French.
