How to make a video into a GIF animation image?

I have already tried with VirtualDubmode and the unfreez applications but it wont seem to work when trying to upload onto myspace. would resizing the images help? if so how would i do it?

you would want to keep size of gif fairly small, same with video when converting, there are some that are too large for web use, but still work, and depends what format from/ to,
