How to make a video into a MP3 sound format?

An .mp3 is just a sound format.  A video contains pictures.  Apples and oranges really.  You can separate the audio from the video and save it as a .mp3.

The easiest way for most people to do this would be to make an audio capture with a free program capable of doing this.  Alshow is such a free program.
