Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make my african iris bloom? My mom game me some of hers about a year ago but I haven't had any blooms. I live in central Florida. The plants appear to be healthy and normal except for the lack of blooms. My neighbors down the street have an abundance of blooms but I don't know what their secret is (I don't know my neighbors so I can't just ask them). Also, although they appear healthy, they haven't grown since I planted them. I don't like to use chemicals but I am open to suggestions if it means getting the results that I am looking for. I tried Google-ing for info but couldn't find much help.

  1. I have never heard of an African Iris, but the Japan, the Louisiana and the English Iris like a lot of moisture, not too much sun and a lot of organic material in the soil.

Did you plant them too deep? this could be a problem too.

Many plants do not produce flowers until 2 years after being transplanted.

    Hope this helps.
