  1. You connect the analog outputs of your Xbox 360 left and right output using composite cables to the analog in of your receiver, whether it is the tape, aux or CD inputs. Then you select that input plus select the sound processing to Dolby Pro Logic and you are set.

A better setup is to use a digital optical cable out from the xbox and connect it to the digital optical cable in of your receiver so you can have Dolby Digital 5.1 sound.

You can have Dolby Pro logic (an analog matrixed surround sound) using analog sound, as you can do them in the old VHS tapes and you can read that from the dolby site I placed here. Dolby pro logic divides the analog sound in L -everything left audio goes to left channel, R  everything right audio goes to right audio, L+R, everything teh same with the left and right audio goes to the center channel and R-L, any difference between right and Left is sent to the matrix surround sound in the rear channel. The latest version of Dolby Pro logic ii, i think it is iix, is the R-L goes to right surround and L-R goes to Left surround.

Dolby Digital is a digital surround coding and that is the one you need digital coax, digital optical or HDMI.

  2. You cannot decode Dolby ProLogic with analog connections.

It has to be optical, digital coaxial, Firewire or HDMI.

  3. this is a function of the receiver and not the xbox.  since you didn't put the model and manufacturer of your receiver, the only thing i can tell you is to set the receiver to aux then check the decoding settings.

(on the off chance that you're using a sony receiver, press the afd button and choose either PLII MV or PLII MS)
