How to make bigger or smaller icons on desktop, or everything else on your screen?

I accidentally pressed some keys, don't even know which and everything on my screen is larger. I want it back the way it was. How to do that? I looked in Control Panel, I can't find where to set this stuff. I looked for buttons on my laptop, can't find any to set this. What to do?

To change Windows visual effects

You can turn specific Windows visual effects on or off. For example, you can display shadows under menus to give a three-dimensional (3-D) effect, indicate folder types with watermarks, and increase the size of icons.

You can change some visual effects in Display Properties and others in System Properties in Control Panel.

Change visual effects in Display

Open Display in Control Panel.

On the Appearance tab, click Effects.

In the Effects dialog box, select the check box for those items you want to turn on.

Notes

To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.

For information about a specific item, right-click the item and then click What's This?.

Change visual effects in System

Open System in Control Panel.

On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

On the Visual Effects tab, click Custom.

Select the check box for those items you want to turn on. Clear the check box for the items you want to turn off.

To open System, click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.

Right click on your desktop (Mac command+click) and hover over "view," which will allow you to choose between several sizes.

change your resoultion right click on the desktop and click properties and goto settings and change it to a higher resolution

It seems like you've changed your resolution somehow. Simply right-click your desktop, choose the settings tab, and select a lower resolution. On a normal monitor today, you may want 1024x768.. although you may want even larger so you may opt for 800x600. To make smaller, use a higher resolution value.
