How can we make Bio-Diesel at home? does it work and is it cost effective?

  2. Go to your local fast food joints.  Collect their used fryer oil.  Filter it, a few times to get all the solid food waste out.  Pour it into your fuel tank and go.  Mythbusters did this and noticed no difference between diesel and fryer oil.

  3. Biodiesel is the result of a chemical reaction (usually transesterification) between fat and alcohol (usually methanol): 10 ton of fat + 1 ton of alcohol and you get 10 ton of biodiesel and 1 ton of glycerin (feedstock I suppose that is used by T Durden to make nitrogycerin out of fat people)

    More advanced processes can used hydrogen instead of alcohol, the reaction is then called hydrogenation and you don't get glycerin.
