How to make breeding exotic pets your job?

Pretty much what I was wondering if anyone knew (preferably someone who owns one now) how to start a business selling exotic animals. I'm a 21 year old who loves reptiles, and any other animal for that matter. I'm also a very business oriented kind of guy. I always wanted to run my own business since I was around 18. I like building things from the ground up and watching them grow and get better with time. I've done this with pretty much every car I owned as well. Im not the kind of person who is looking for an easy way out, rather making a passion of mine into a possible lucrative business. Please don't think I'm some money hungry jerk trying to scheme up some way to make money. Just want to get by doing what I love. Thanks for any advice!

turning your  hobby into a business  is as simple as getting a T.I.N.number from your state of residence and claiming all income. thats it, your a business . now being a good business man  who consistently sells/produces the best and turns a decent profit....... thats where it gets tricky.

p.s. if a had some cash laying around to take mine in a different direction or, start a new investment ,id be breeding ball python morphs. those things are GOLD! now, all my  animals pay for them selfs, and then some, but if i started off with balls...they would pay for EVERYTHING!!!!

It would be hard making a business out of it, I breed leopard geckos and they sell for about #40.00 each, depending what colour and kind they are, but it is so difficult to make it into an actual career, my best advice would be to try to open us an exotic animal breeding company like the reptile shops you find who breed snakes and lizards, it takes a lot of money and a long time but I think thats the best way you can go about it

Man that is a dream that constantly gets me in trouble at my real job on a day to day bases. I feel the same exact way as you but I'm more of a realist and my breeding plans will more then likely end up with me just having lots of ball python morphs and me spending more money then making. I'm more into just seeing what types of morphs i can make then turning a profit, but if i had the business savy i would def try to make it my career. get a store that you can turn into a pet shop. then you can breed your pets and sell them. you would get a lot of business if you had a decent store.
