  1. I've always found that just a few highlights, perhaps around the face, will do a lot to brighten things up.  I like the golden brown:  it makes a good base color to which you can add red, blonde, lowlights, highlights, etc.

Having hair you *love* makes everything better, doesn't it?  Good luck, sweetie!

  2. I use the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette conditioner. I tend to use the darker one for winter and lighter for summer. (He also makes a lovely shampoo of the same colour.) It gives your hair a nice bright shine and makes it incredibly smooth and soft to the touch. I find the shampoo and the conditioner are a bit much together, but using the conditioner twice a week with my regular shampoo keeps my hair looking beautiful and healthy.

  3. lemon or tea. if you pour it on your hair and then sit in the sun, it will give it naturally lighter highlights :) now, i don't know if this would work on dying hair, but it certainly works for me, and i have dark brown hair. i would use more bright hair accessories, that's what i do!

  4. Jhirmack Purple Shampoo

I know it says it's for silver, bleached, or blonde hair, but it actually works on my naturally brown hair. It makes my normally dull brown hair shinier and makes it appear lighter, more vibrant in color.
