  1. Here's a super easy sweet and sour sauce recipe and its better than bottles and even better than many chinese restaurants. I put it in my cook book and it came from my dads chinese foods teacher in a college cooking class

    Dads Sweet & Sour Sauce

    1 c. sugar

    1 c. rice vinegar (can use apple cider vinegar)

    ¼ c. catsup

    1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce

    1 Tbs. corn starch + 2Tbs. water, mixed together

    In a small sauce pan, add all ingredients except for corn

    starch and water mixture. Bring to a simmer add corn starch mixture, stirring consistently to thicken. Serve warm.


  2. 5 tbsp plum sauce

    3 tbsp rice vinegar

    2 tbsp tomato ketchup

    4 tbsp pineapple juice

    200ml (8 fl oz) water

    1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 3 tbsp water (optional)

    Mix all the ingredients well (except cornflour solution) and bring to a slow boil over medium heat for 5 mins. Add cornflour solution while stirring, to thicken the sauce.

    3/4 cup white sugar

    1/3 cup white vinegar

    2/3 cup water

    1/4 cup soy sauce

    1 tablespoon ketchup

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    DIRECTIONS

    Place the sugar, vinegar, water, soy sauce, ketchup and cornstarch in a medium saucepan, and bring to a boil. Stir continuously until the mixture has thickened.

    INGREDIENTS

    2 cups water

    2/3 cup distilled white vinegar

    1 1/2 cups white sugar

    1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste

    1 (8 ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained

    3 tablespoons cornstarch

    DIRECTIONS

    In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix together water, distilled white vinegar, white sugar, tomato paste, pineapple tidbits and cornstarch. Cook, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes, or until mixture reaches desired color and consistency.
