How to make cookies denser?

I made some peanut butter cookies the other day- I used 1 tsp. baking soda and flaxseed/water for egg. The cookies came out super light and fluffy, and I would really like a more dense cookie. I usually have the opposite problem when making vegan cookies, so this was interesting?!

  1. I think its very telling that the Fake Alison has collected a list of all the regular users

    obessed or what ?

  2. one of the ladies in my office uses only brown sugar in her cookies instead of using white sugar AND brown sugar.  using only brown sugar makes the cookies dense and chewy, and let me tell you...her chocolate chip cookies are the best ever!! =)

  3. Less water or liquid.

    More oil and binder.

  4. I agree with the first answer.  I make cookies with whole wheat flour, and they are VERY dense.  If you want them less dense, then use 1/2 and 1/2.  Good luck with your cookies, and mail me some!  :)

  5. cut down on the baking soda.  That is what makes it airy and you gassy.

  6. Try cornstarch...

  7. For light cookies, cream the mixture until it is light and fluffy.  For a denser, moister cookie, cream only until the mixture is paste-like

  8. More water makes them fluffier, so try adding less water.

  9. try using banana for your egg sub :)  Good luck

  10. I believe that replacing white flour to whole wheat flour will make breads denser. (it's a fact) But since it's a cookie, perhaps you can replace half of  the other flour with whole wheat flour. Not only it is denser but it's nutritious too.
