How to make custom sliding doors?

I am redoing my basement and I want to make sliding doors for 75" height from floor to joists. Any recommendations?

  1. why not just be a ready made sliding door kit available from diy stores or architectural ironmongers,many many variations available and not to expensive either


  2. If it is indoors you can get a sliding rail and hang the door on it. Normally you mount the rail on the wall and then they have the guides running on the inside with a stopper at each end. You can use lip channel and make your own guides with two rollers and a rod with a bush that goes in the centre and weld a coach s***w to it and s***w that into the top of the door. I would buy the sliding rail. Also you get a guide that holds the door straight at the bottom.
