How to make friends first day of school?

hey, well i don't know a lot of people at my high school and it's in a small town so a lot of people all know eachother. i was wondering how i can make friends easily, and how to not look shy and like i have no friends, and what kind of people i should approach. thannks.

My advice to you is this: befriend people who are different than you. Next time you want to become someone's friend, ask them something in class. For example, "forget" your pencil and ask the person for one. The best people are not only those different from you, but the social outcasts. Normally, they're forgotten about because they were just being themselves.That's a better friend than any sleezy little anorexic chick who has to wear five tons of make-up and trash talk every girl they see because they feel insecure about themselves.

I'd say the most important part of making new friends as a new kid would be, be yourself when interacting with new people. Now I know you hear this from your parents and other adults all the time but if you make new friends around things about you that aren't true then they like you for something that really isn't you! also try befriending the kind of people you'd like to hang around.

Just be yourself and be confident. Just say hi and introduce yourself. It may be nerve raking but by doing this people will say hi back and invite you over.

just be urself... u'll find friends eventually.. it doesn't have to be ur first day cuz then u don't really know anyone that well and u never know wat would happen... just don't be too eager for friends... the right ones will come for u.. :p

On my first day of school i floated to all the different groups of people to see if there was any chemistry.

im kinda in the same situation. there will ALWAYS be new kids who dont know anyone, so make friends with them and the people in your classes. they will make friends with others, theyll introduce you to them, and soon, you have a great group of friends. also join some clubs or teams at your school.
