How to make friends with these kids...?

So theres this group of hard rocker kids in my highschool, and I want to get to know them better. I just entered the district, so I know nobody at my school, but everybody knows each other.

anyways

my question is, how do I break the ice with these kids and get their attention? I listen to the same music as them, so should I like, wear a band t-shirt tomorrow or something? I'm planning on wearing a pyramid stud bracelet tomorrow so idk if that helps...

I mean, theyre always like, in a pack, so I feel kind of outsider-ish and intimidated

I want to get to know them well enough so that I can sit at the same lunch table as them...for the past few days, ive sat at a table by myself..

It's hard to just go up to a group and start a conversation with them. Some people can do it because they have and radiate confidence.

If you are not one of those confident people, how about approaching just one of them when they are by themselves. (approach the biggest most intimidating of them - they are usually more ready to talk to a newbie, in my experience because it so rarely happens that people stop and talk to them).

Or, if someone is wearing a band t-shirt that you like you can make a comment like "cool tee" or something and start discussing the band with them. Or you can ask if anyone has a copy of "...."'s new album yet, because you'd love to hear it and would trade / swap for a copy of (whatever rare/cool album) you have.
