Question:

How to make gelcoat on an old bass boat shine?

I am selling my 1990 bass boat this weekend. What is a quick way to make it really shine. I want to get the wet look on the gel coat. The shine doesn't have to last more than a couple of days. I don't have time to wet sand or wax it.

I have seen some other used boats that look like they have armor all or something on the gelcoat. It had just a slight oily residue, but it really made them shine. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  1. wipe it down with chinawood oil

  2. If you don't have time to compound and wax it, I'd try using a high gloss, floor polish on it. You can get a roller or rag, and wipe it on. It won't last long, and probably look like he** after an hour in the water, but like you said, it on;y has to last for a couple of days. Try it on an inconspicuous spot first.

  3. Mop and Glo floor wax
