  1. You know you can't make your own flubber - only Robin Williams and Fred MacMurray can do that!  I watched the Fred MacMurray version last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it - hadn't seen it in years.

You can make your own silly putty though.  Just search for a recipe if you want to make that or play dough!

  2. this doesn't bounce but corn starch and water...it feels hard but it drips through your fingers

  3. I've learn how to do this since when I was in 5th grade at school.

Here are some steps how to make a flubber.

    Materials

Mixture 1 ingredients: 3/4 cups warm water

                                    1 cup of Elmer's glue

                                    food coloring

Mixture 2 ingredients: 2 tsp borax

                                    1/2 cup of warm water

    Procedures:

First mixture 1 ingredients should be in a container & mixture 2 should be in another container, stir them both. Make sure they are mixed well. Then pour mixture 1 ingredients into the mixture 2 ingredients container. No need to stir it, just reach in & pull out glob of flubber & place the flubber on a tray & let it sit for like 2 to 3 minutes before playing with it. Store in air tight container. Enjoy!

  4. I do recall a recipe from the days of the Fred MacMurray version of the movie, and a heroic but disastrous attempt on my mother's part to cook up a batch of flubber for me and other kids in the neighborhood.  Made a terrific mess that stuck to everything.

A silly putty substitute is pretty simple, and those are the recipes that are being posted, but Flubber, transparent, flecked with sparkly speckles, and imbued with a kinetic resilience that defies the laws of physics, increasing its energy with each bounce, remains a magical if not mystical substance whose creation is more alchemy than industrial art or just messin' around in the kitchen.

Unless you can find a foolproof recipe that you can find a fool to test, leave this type of chemistry to the guys at Dupont and 3M before you blow up the neighborhood or fold it into another dimension..
