I have made homemade pizza before, but the middle did not cook all the way, it was still doughy. I couldn't keep baking it for much longer though bc the edges were getting almost black.

I know why the middle wouldn't cook all the way through... its because we like A LOT of toppings... a lot of sauce and a lot of other stuff... so is there a way to still make this pizza with the dough cooking all the way through?

Can i cook the crust a little first then add the rest?

  1. I am going to share my secret with you.....put your meat and other toppings on BEFORE the sauce!  Then add your cheese.  This will prevent the sauce from making your crust soggy!  Also try to keep the toppings in the middle a little on the light side.  If you use any "wet" toppings like canned black olives or mushrooms, drain them very well before adding to the pizza.  And if you use frozen vegis, be sure they are not covered with ice crystals.  Rinse them in cold water in a collander bowl and drain well (I have even blotted them between paper towels to remove excess moisture).  What temp and for how long do you usually bake for?  I do 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.  I guarentee you will not have a soggy pizza by putting the sauce on top the other toppings!  It also makes leftovers easier to reheat and store!

    Good Luck and enjoy!

  2. I would personally reccomen pre-made crust and add topping then put it on the grill. YUm!

But, if not, I would say do you cheese and sauce and then cook for half the time, and then add the rest. :]

  3. Yes, you could pre-cook all of your toppings and the crust and then only put it in the oven to melt the cheese. A trick to keeping the edges from burning before it's all done is to cover the top and bottom parts of the exposed crust with foil- kind like wrapping it up.
