PLease give me many steps on how to ensure her safty. I have already cleaned the yard and toys with bleach. The puppy will be 6 weeks old when I get her.

  1. Check with vet for shots to give  for pravo. I would be sanitizing the floors and throwing out all things previous dog got in contact with. To me starting out with new toys and bedding would make me feel better.

  2. There is this website at http://dog-parvo.blogspot.com with a lot of information on dog parvo.

  3. Parvo can live in the soil  (shed from your previous puppy) in your yard for up to a year.

I would not chance bringing another puppy on your property until at least a year has passed.    There is no way that you can be sure that you disinfected every inch of your yard where your puppy had traveled.

If you want to get a dog, please consider adopting an adult dog with a mature immune system that has been vaccinated against Parvo.

I know this is not the answer you wanted to hear, as you would like to get another puppy .... but to bring one on to your property just 4 months after the other one died - is asking for the possibility that this one will die too.

A 6 week old puppy is too young to be removed from its mother - and will not be able to fend off the Parvo virus.
