How to make it so boys can wear spandex in volleyball?

How can we make it so us boys can wear spandex in volleyball? is there a sports board that has to aprove it, or is it alloued and some chose not to, I thik it would be good because all the girls says its easy to move around in, and easier to dive in. We wear them under our shorts, like most boys volleyball teams, but half of us think it would be a cool change for the sport, what do you guys think?

I think boy/ or girl it helps preformance and it is easy to move around in. Our boys volleyball team wears spandex shorts, not short lil bootie spandex but longer ones, and knee socks, and we play much better in them, like in diving and stuff. Another team in our leage started doing it to and all the girls say its sexxy. Were from alberta and it was a really weird, but cool change

Usually each state has an association that makes rules for school sports.  You have to check your state's rules and see if you're allowed to wear spandex shorts with nothing over them.  If not, maybe start by talking to your coach about it.  Wrestlers wear their spandex singlets with nothing over them, so it seems like a possibility.

It does not make that much of a difference on performance. Sorry, spandex lovers, but that is the truth. If the international mens teams compete in shorts, then they are good enough for the rest of us as well.

What is going to make you good or not is skill and fitness, not whether you wear shorts or spandex. NBA wears long shorts, and baseball wears pants.

Basically, the amount that it would help, if it would help at all, is not very significant. However, I can point to some VERY good reasons why guys should not wear only spandex.

Right now, we are trying desperately to build up the popularity of mens volleyball, and mandating spandex would further the stereotype about volleyball guys being "g*y". I AM NOT SAYING THIS STEREOTYPE IS RIGHT! But it is a fact that it exists to some extent.

Many people see volleyball as a sport for girls and women, and making guys wear spandex would not help the popularity for guys. We want it to be taken seriously along with football, soccer, baseball, and basketball.

Maybe this should be reversed? Maybe girls should have to wear shorts like everyone else? We'd at least get a less perverted fan base for the women.
