Question:

How to make linen very white?

My restaurant has recently dimissed our linen company and now I'm washing our bar towels. I bought them brand new and realize that after first use and wash I'm not able to get them pearly white. I've used a lot of bleach and detergent, but it's not getting it done. Is there a way to dye my fabric white? I know it's a contradiction of terms, but I need to make them very white.

Any suggestions?

  1. i would suggest bleaching them, letting them dry, then washing them with bleach again.

  2. try oxiclean thats what I use and it get em super white

  3. use a little bleach, because it will make it not as soft anymore

  4. Use bleach you dirty minger you don't even know how to clean your own clothes shame on you!! Lol I'm only joking. Your very clean actually.

  5. I am really obsessive about getting my linens VERY white. I think I get that from my grandmother, she was the same way.

This is what I do. I wash all my linens in hot water and I always use oxi clean and bleach. I always soak my whites for at least an hour before I put them on the wash cycle. I use Gain detergent too. (Although I am not sure that makes a differnce).

My whites are ALWAYS very white, even my husbands dingy socks.

  6. No you don't want to dye them because sometimes dye comes out when the fabric gets wet and in  a restaurant that can't be good. I would try OXY Clean in powder form when you wash them, or for small spot stains spay them with the liquid before you wash them. There;s also Spray 'n' Wash which is a good brand, too.  Don't use too much bleach either, and make sure you wash them in HOT water. That will loosen the fibers.

  7. Try the whitener you can buy for net curtains

  8. boil them  and use 20 mule borax bleach can yellow whites

  9. bleach

  10. Get Bluing Agents.

  12. To keep my whites all nice and bright white and spot free, I washed them in warm or hot water, with the spots pre-treated, regular detergent.  I may add bleach if they are especially dirty, or I may use Oxi-clean and use the hottest setting possible.  Usually though, I just wash them, stop the washer once the detergent has mingled good and wait for 20-30 minutes then start it up and let it finish.  I will add a few drops of bluing to the rinse cycle, and to get a good rinse of the wash water, I also may add a cup of white distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle.  To get blazing white stuff, I then hang it outside in the sunshine and fresh air!  I NEVER EVER mix my whites with ANY other colored fabrics.  Hope this helps you!  Good luck!

  13. I know it sounds strange, but instead of using bleach, fill a bucket or your bathtub with cold water and use 3 or 4 denture tablets, depending on how many towels you are washing, soak them for an hour or so. Wash as usual.
