How to make mashed potatoes out of the box?

My Mom always puts the stuff to make mashed potatoes in a big container, so I don't know the right measurments of anything. I love my mashed potatoes with a lot of flavor, so if anyone could tell me how to make them really creamy and good, that's be great :)

  1. bring some water (or broth for extra flavour) to a boil, then add the powdered potato I'm not sure the the exact measurements are but you will be able to tell!! then once you have it to a thick consistency add some butter and milk, let sit for a minuet or two then enjoy


  2. if you are not sure an you like ur moms potatoes the best thing to do is ask her an ask her how to do it right on key when you cook for years you just know how much so i think thats why she just throws everything together with no prob just ask or read the box an try diffrent things to it to see what you like more

  3. You can add grated cheese and low fat buttermilk instead of regular milk and butter. Yummy!!

    milk or cream if you want to be really decadent...and I am sure it is much better for you too ~ & just as easy to make.

  9. There are directions right on the box....use milk I guess, a little bit more than recommended if you want them to be creamy.  Butter helps too.

  11. You don't make mashed potatoes out of the box, you make them out of the potato flakes inside the box.  The box has the directions on it.

  12. Ok, honey, the way you make mashed potatoes the regular way is you peel some potatoes then cut them up and put them in a big pot of boiling water. When their done cooking you drain them and put the drained potatoes back into the pot. Then throw in a half a stick of butter 1 1/2 cup milk or more and blend it all together. Make sure you add seasoning's like baisl n salt n pepper.

  13. The recipe is right on the box. It will generally include water, milk and butter.  But here are some modification tips:

    1. You can replace some of the water with milk to make them creamier.

    2. But what I like is to use chicken broth instead of water for more flavor. Bouillon works well for this, too.

    3. You can add more butter for flavor if you want.

    4. Don't forget the salt and pepper!

    5. I like rosemary in my potatoes!
