How to make mini party pinatas as seen on e-bay?

I know they're make from hard poster paper, not paper mache. I just hate to buy them knowing I can probably make them for less money!

You can make pinatas with balloons and newspaper.  Blow up the balloons.  Cut newspapers into strips 1" wide.  Dilute Elmer's Glue with water and pour in a flat tray (a 9x13 cake pan does nicely).  Lay the newspaper strips in the glue and then put them on the balloon.  Don't cover where the knot is, because you will need to pop the balloon, and this leaves a hole to put the candy inside.  Make sure you let the newspaper dry after each layer is put on.  And you'll probably want to do 3 or 4 layers.  Once all the layers have been put on and are dry, you can paint the pinata.  Poster paints work just fine.  Pop the balloon and put in the candy.
