How to make my Sony Handycam (DCR-TRV250) playback a video on a V8 tape recorded on different model of hcam?

I recently borrowed a VTR tape (V8) recorded using a Sony Handycam (unknown/different model). When I tried to play the video, using my Sony handycam (DCR-TRV250), the camera could not read/recognize the contents of the V8 tape. Is there a compatibility issue between different models of Sony handycam even if they're using the same tape, in this case a V8/Hi8?

Probably!?!? Can't give you a definite answer because you don't have the model number of the other camcorder. You should peruse the Sony support site for the camera that you have under FAQ's.

When this model came out, it was the lowest priced version of Digital8. Sony did not include the feature of playback of analog tapes at this price point.
