  1. Ok, they are definantly not nocturnal. They are diurnal, meaning they have on/off sleep cycles throughout the day and night.

You can't really change it, but i guess if you played with them a lot during the day maybe they wouldn't be up as much at night...

  2. They're not nocturnal. They should be awake. It's obviously bored- gerbils sleep when they don't have anything else to do. So just play with it in the day and chuck some more cardboard and such in there.

  3. This is a very easy task. Take it out and play with it during the day, soon it will be waiting outside its cage at the same time you always play with it. Make sure you get it out everyday around the same time so it can get used to you playing with it at that time.. He/she will get it eventually...

  4. well, you could try to give him/her lots of attention during the day and make sure he doesn't have time to fall into a deep sleep.

my gerbils only sleep when the light is off or they have something covering their cage, so maybe you could try that with yours.

i've really never had a problem with nocturnal gerbils.

i hope you can find a solution for yours!

    good luck!
