Question:

How to make my lawn thicker and greener?

My lawn is not really patchy but a little dead which is expected in the southeast. My front yard is fescue and bermuda and my back is mainly bermuda.I don't have that much weed, hardly any actually. I have poor soil because there is rock a couple inches down. I can't water it because of restrictions. I want to know what I can do now and in the future to make it very green and thick. Thanks

  1. I can understand what your saying. You must richen the soil you have to work with.A good start would be every year to apply compost and richer soils. This will not be an immediate fix but rather over time.

You have the proper grass in place but it needs to be nourished for a  few years, then basic fertilizers will help.Water restrictions don't help but your grass will adapt.

  2. WEED N FEED USE THAT

  3. use a fertilizer with large first  number,,,like 26-8-8,,   the 26 is nitrogen,,,which makes grass and other plants  greener,,,promotes strong leaf  growth,,, ( don't over do it  nitrogen can burn the leaves,),,also don't rake cuttings,,,leave them on the yard to make compost,,,  most grasses need only bout 1 inch water  per week,,,when you do water,,,water deeply,,avoid run off,,water slowly,,,several times,,,giving previous ,time to soak in,,,
