  1. First birthdays are always important:)  I have a movie of MY first birthday, that I showed at my daughters' first birthdays; and they've showed it at the first birthday party for each of my grandkids - so TAKE A VIDEO! ...  Have a small, separate cake for your son to eat, and be sure to take photos of THAT!  ...  Pizza, veggie & fruit platters are enough food for all ages (cheese pizza for the kids - toppings for adults), with Jello Jigglers for the kids too ...   Lots of BRIGHT COLORS (balloons, etc).  He's too young for organized games, so just have some of his toys out for him to play with the other kids; and don't forget the empty boxes from the gifts!  ... Keep the party to no more than 2 hrs, since he'll get tired quickly ...  Save your money for clowns, pony rides, jump houses, etc. for when he's 3 and older:)  He'll have a good time just playing!  (My birthday is Oct. 21 and my daughter's is Oct. 3.  I always had Halloween parties when I was little, and sometimes did pumpkin themes for her parties, although it's a little too early in the month for Halloween)

  2. first i like to say """many many more advance happyrbirthtday"""

  3. You can't go wrong with giving your child his own chocolate cake to dig in and demolish all over the place, it's funny, and you can video it for future embarrassments

  4. you can Video tape it or keep a bunch of camera's and places them on the table and tell everyone to take a few pictures and then pass it around you will get all kinds of different pictures.. make it something like a Hawaiian theme and get the guys to dress up in Little grass skirts and the coconut bras it would be cute and the parents could also have fun...make sure you get your son his own Lilttle cake.. Good luck

  5. Hire a person who draws caricatures. I don't know where you live but I found a guy at the Yankee Candle Shop in Deerfield, MA who's fantastic. That would be a GREAT memory.

  6. Just have a play date with other parents. Hire a few teens to be sitters and then all of the kids are in a room playing (maybe have some cupcakes with no frosting for them).  And the parents stay in another room playing cards, watching movies or whatever. Have coffee, drinks and food that you'd like. (maybe takeout from a good restaurant.) and relax. This will be the last b-day party that will be fun for you until the kid is 12.

  7. Make it phenomenal. If you want to make it memorable you will need a acceptable amount of money you want to spend, just get loads of party stuff, fun presents that he will enjoy invite the whole family and friends and do something spontaneous and maybe a nice big cake of one of his favorite tv characters (if he has one)

    Good luck :D

  8. Hi,

Secretly send out invites to his friends, then on the chosen date, tell him you are going to go to somewhere like MacDonalds for a treat, drive past it and to the location and there he will see all of his friends. Also, themed partys are always fun and memorable, send out invites telling his friends to come dressed as something or someone from a TV show or theme.

Hope This is of help to you...

  9. For my child's first birthday I did have quite a few kids the same age and we had cake and played on the floor.I gave away those biter biscuits wrapped in a new bib.

It was a short party since everyone had to take a nap.

  10. His first birthday party will always be memorable to you.But not to him. I would just say don't do anything too complicated, otherwise you will be rushing around all day and not have time to enjoy it. The best memory will be watching your son have fun. He won't remember his parties until he's at least 3! So just relax and enjoy!

  11. the first bday party is for you he will not remember any of it so i suggest to you that you throw the kind of party you would like to have

  12. Play Whack A Mole with him as the mole.. Pass out  rubber mallets to the visiting children as they come in the door. It wont hurt him much and he will Never forget his birthday....

  13. My son had no idea what was going on at his first birthday party. I made cupcakes for all the kids in different colors. He loved shoving the whole thing in his mouth. He had a ball. That's what counts.

    PS: VIDEOTAPE IT!

  14. Memorable for whom?  Quite frankly at only one year old, your child won't remember much of the event.  Give him his own piece of cake that he can have fun with and allow him to get messy to his heart's content.

  15. it will be no matter how much money you spend its his first birthday! he wont remember it just have a good/nice time.
