  1. hmm...a lot of years going from town to town trying to make a living and finding  a station worth your time...plus a lot of whiskey...and (unfortunately)smoking...that will circumvent the processing since your voice will already be down in the lower octives!....better go with the processing equipment--it's safer!!!

  2. The answer to this one will be different for anybody, seeing as how we all have unique voices.

A lot of people go into radio because they have the "voice" for it.

True, most stations will process the heck out of their over the air sound, so that they have a consistant sound 24-7.

If you really are serious about working in radio, you should look into studying communications at the college of your choice.  While earning that degree you will also have the opertunity to take voice and articulation classes to give you that perfect "Non-Regional" voice.  (That simply means that your voice will be acceptible to work anywhere in the country without soulding like an out-of-towner.

  3. Lots of training and practice... you can learn to make your voice sound that way I have been a Dj & MC for 14 years and never used my mic - I am fairly good now - and am 100% self taught

  4. The voice goes through a digital processor. I have been working somewhat in radio and am trying to get an internship now. I know that they have digital sound board and the voices get processed, so what a person sounds like off the air is not what they sound like on the air. You should check out a local broadcasting school if you are serious.
