I once read from a book that you shouldn't give Nasturtiums much fertilizers or water in order to make them bloom, is it true?

  1. i once went to house where they had a 35degree slope in the backward ..the sun shone in the late afternoon..but the whole slope was filled with nasturtiums and pumpkins...i dont know if the pumpkins helped or the water running down the slop but pumpking and nasturtiums where bounty full and the flowers on them where huge....so it might be a solution.. hope this helps.

  2. I don't know for sure, but mine have bloomed very well in containers in relatively dry summers.  They are not doing so well this year, as we've had rain, rain and more rain all summer.  I don't use any fertilizer other than compost, so I don't know about that part, but my soil is pretty rich in organics.

  3. fertilizer gets you leaves not flowers... and drier conditions are more reason for them to bloom.... ignoring them usually gets you the best show.... altho, picking off the dying leaves always does'em good.....

    same goes for Morning Glory....
