  1. Best thing to do is to buy a rice cooker. Make sure you wash the rice and then drain it.

When I make rice, for example if I make 2 cups of rice, I usually put 2 1/2 cups of water, then I measure it with my index finger. Sounds, dumb but it really works. If the water is below the first line on your index finger, you don't have enough water. Make sure the water is a little bit above that first line on your index finger.

My Rice comes out perfect each time...hehehe..

    Hope that helps.

  2. Always rinse thouroughly a few times if you don't want sticky rice.

  3. Ok, start with a rice paddy somewhere in Asia...

Oh, how to COOK good rice, I get it :D

Here are some tips from a big rice eater:

    - Don't stir the rice while it's cooking

    - Only put enough water in to make the rice swell up

    - Put a little oil in the pan

    - Keep checking the rice to see how it's doing

    - Drain the rice in boiling water if it's too sticky

  4. It usually goes soggy and sticky if its overcooked, cook it on a lower temperature, I steam my rice, it may take longer to cook but it comes out perfectly!

Pour water over the cooked rice if it is sticky

  5. The best thing to do is to follow the directions that come with the particular rice you are cooking and always measure everything out, no guessing.  Wild rice has to cook at least 45 minutes, whereas instant rice can be ready in 10 minutes.

Rice cookers usually make perfect rice and most good quality rice has directions for rice cookers.

  6. Rinse it thoroughly first and add to a large pot of boiling water.

Stir occasionally, gently until the water returns to the boil.

Reduce heat to a gentle simmer and set the timer for 15 minutes.

Check that it is the softness you want and drain. Return to pot and fluff up with a fork.

  7. Add the rice to boiling water, stir gently until it comes back to the boil.

Turn the cooker down to it's lowest temperature.

Put the lid on the pan and leave for 10-15 minutes.

When you check, the rice should have absorbed the water and it will be perfect.

That's how I do it anyway, and it's always worked.

    Hope that helps.

  8. Use a good rice, such as Uncle Ben's. It is par boiled & I have never had it turn sticky.

  9. How I do perfect rice...

    1 cup dry rice

    2 cups water

    1/8 teaspoon salt

    2 tablespoons margarine

mix all ingredients together in medium sauce pan.  place over med/low heat and cover.  cook about 40 min.  stir, turn off and leave covered for about 10 min or until the rest of dinner is complete.

If it is still pretty wet, just let it set about 10 minutes more and it will be fine.    Usually this is fool proof though.
