I've had my period for 3 years now and lately it's been getting very heavy. I get clumps of blood sometimes and very heavy bleeding. I don't want to go on birth control but i'd like to make it lighter naturally. Will drinking a lot of water help? Thanks to all the answers. :)

  1. I've found that drinking a lot of water does help- and it makes me feel better. i'm not sure if this works for everyone though.

one thing that has worked for me and all my girl friends who have tried it... be a vegetarian. it's a big change and it doesn't seem to work unless you stay meat-free constantly, but it really works wonders.

also if you need something fairly short-term, seems to me that if you work out a lot your period will get a lot heavier during and after your work out, but after a few hours or so it gets back to normal flow and the overall duration tends to decrease.

  2. Nothing makes it lighter you are who you are and it won't change. A lot of times it's genetic if your mom had heavy periods then most likely you will too. There is really nothing you can do I was the same way for many years and finally had to go on the pill. I couldn't take it anymore that's the only thing that works. If your worried about being on the pill it's no big deal and if you don't like taking a pill everyday there is nuva ring or the patch. Good Luck but it's really not going to change.

  3. Sorry But I Dont Think You Can ;[

  4. It is what it is...as you get older, it will become more of a pain...sorry.

  5. i dont know if it works for you, but dont eat cold foods/drinks?

for me, cold stuff makes me have heavier periods. =/

so try it and see if it works! :)

  6. I was told by my doctor that taking Advil when you first start to get cramps can lighten your cramps and blood flow, as well as shorten the length of the period.

  7. water will probably make your cramps go away, it might work for the size of your flow
